We start by understanding the home, the ambition and the people who will live there. During this first phase, we discuss wishes, routines, priorities, budget, planning and the potential of the existing or future home. The goal is to create a clear foundation before any design decisions are made.

  • At this stage, only the essentials are needed. Existing drawings, photos, inspiration images, practical wishes and a first idea of budget are helpful, but not required. The main goal is to understand the home, the people who will live there and the level of guidance the project needs.

  • After the discovery phase, we can usually define the ambition, complexity and possible direction of the project. We look at the scope, timing, budget and level of involvement required. If there is a good match, we outline the next phase and propose a clear way forward.

STEP 02.

Shape.

We define the first clear direction for the project. This includes the spatial concept, atmosphere, material references, light, routing and an early view on budget and feasibility. In this phase, the main design principles are set, giving the project a clear foundation before it is developed further.

  • We define the first design direction for the home. This can include layout options, atmosphere, references, material direction, light, routing and the relationship between existing and new spaces. The goal is not to finalise every detail, but to create a strong and clear direction.

  • Yes. Budget and feasibility are part of the conversation from the start. In this phase, we test the ambition against planning, technical complexity and expected investment, so the design direction remains realistic and well grounded.

  • You receive a clear concept direction for the project. Depending on the scope, this may include (3D) sketches, moodboards, spatial studies, floorplans, reference images, first material ideas and a written explanation of the direction. This forms the basis for the next phase: Develop.

STEP 03.

Develop.

We translate the concept into a complete architectural and interior proposal. Layouts, volumes, materials, bespoke elements and key details are developed into a coherent design. This phase brings the home together as one considered whole, connecting architecture, interior and daily living.

  • We develop the spatial layout, interior direction, material palette, bespoke elements, lighting approach and key design details. The concept becomes more concrete, with clear choices that show how the home will look, feel and function.

  • We design the home as one complete environment. Architecture, interior, materials, joinery, lighting and furniture are considered together, so the spaces feel connected rather than assembled from separate choices.

  • At the end of this phase, you receive a complete design proposal. Depending on the project, this can include plans, elevations, 3D visuals, material direction, bespoke furniture ideas and an explanation of the main design decisions.

STEP 04.

Refine.

We refine the design through material choices, technical details, furniture, lighting, bespoke joinery and coordination with relevant makers and advisors. Every decision is tested for quality, use, budget and atmosphere, so the design becomes more precise and ready for realisation.

  • In this phase, we make the design more precise. We refine materials, finishes, lighting, bespoke elements, furniture direction and key technical details. The goal is to make sure every choice supports the overall atmosphere, daily use and quality of the home.

  • We guide the decision making step by step. Materials, colours, textures, lighting and details are reviewed in relation to the design, budget and practical use of the home. Where needed, we involve makers and suppliers early, so choices are beautiful, realistic and well considered.

  • At the end of this phase, the design is technically ready to move towards preparation and realisation. Depending on the project, this can include refined drawings, material selections, lighting direction, bespoke joinery details, furniture proposals and clear decisions for the next phase.

STEP 05.

Prepare.

Before construction starts, we align drawings, budget, planning, permissions, contractors, makers and suppliers. This phase is about clarity and control. By preparing decisions early, we reduce uncertainty during the build and create a smoother process for everyone involved.

Craft.

During construction, we guide the execution with attention to quality, detail and coordination. We stay involved with the contractor, makers and client to safeguard the design intent. The focus is on clear communication, careful decisions and a result that reflects the original ambition.

Live

After completion, we help bring the home to its final state. This can include finishing touches, furniture, styling, aftercare and small refinements that only become clear once the home is in use. The process ends when the house feels complete, personal and ready to live in.
